What is a Glucose Monitor?
A glucose meter, also referred to as a "glucometer", is a medical device for determining the
approximate concentration of glucose in the blood. It can also be a strip of glucose paper dipped
into a substance and measured to the glucose chart.
Why Do I need a Glucose Monitor?
Regular blood sugar monitoring is the most important thing you can do to manage type 1 or
type 2 diabetes. You'll be able to see what makes your numbers go up or down, such as eating
different foods, taking your medicine, or being physically active.
How do I use a Glucose Monitor?
Prick the side of your fingertip with the needle (lancet) provided with your test kit. Touch and hold the edge of the test strip to the drop of blood. The meter will display your blood sugar level on a screen after a few seconds.
